Alan is dead? Well, I didn't want to say anything before (at the risk of upsetting anyone) but I was wondering if they were going to do that. Actually, I was a little surprised when Alan made it through surgery but then I quickly thought: "Oh yeah! They're trying to end things on a "happy" note.".

Why Not kill him now? Supposedly he's a changed man (again) so they probably want him to go out on a good note. He's "changed" many times before and never stuck with it (granted because they needed it for the story lines). Now that he's done it again, they probably don't want to give the character a chance to go back to his old self - even though the soap is ending - in a way (in our minds) it will go on.

Wow. I didn't expect my statement to cause such a reaction. Sorry.:-) I realize I asked it in the form of a question but I really didn't mean it that way. I wasn't trying to put forth a challenge.:-) No problem though.:-) Sorry if I upset you.

I guess the thing with me - for some reason is that although I was pretty surprised that they let him die, I'm not really bothered with it. Anyone else (other than Edmund) and I would have hated it. The fact that he was making amends with everyone was a great thing. He really *finally* learned what it means to love selflessly (of course, the main reason for him learning this is because of no more story lines - but still).

Redemption is not only possible for repentive sinners - it's a promise. As is salvation.

There's no reason why that COULDN'T happen. Alan could be in a GL movie as a ghost. The way they've done Jenna and others through the years. Granted, it wouldn't be exactly the same but all it takes is the imagination of some good (at least *desent*) writers, and Alan is there because of someone's memory. Or because of someone's dream. Or to help someone not to go down the same path he did.
