SF Happenings…

CROSS-CREEK…
Reva is sitting in front of the fireplace getting decorations prepared for Henry's first B-Day Party. She is explaining to Colin as he watches her from his carrier beside her how fun it will all be this is his first B-Day Party. Someone knocks…she calls out Josh… Josh come on in. Josh calls out no, you come out here I want to show you what I got for Henry. She hears the smile in his voice…sighs and says why he can't he just come in…she picks up Colin and pause long enough to smile at him remarking in the cutest voice…my you are getting to be a big boy…let's go outside and see what Josh has…yes…
Uh-oh….
Josh is standing there with a rocking horse in his hands and huge smile on his face. He asks look isn't it great?! She says oh...no… He adds I saw it and thought it would be the perfect gift to give my first grandson!! Reva says it is the exact same one I got him… go ahead look in my car. They both just smile at each other.
MARINA'S PLACE…
She is busy decorating for Henry's party…Shayne knocks… she says come in…you don't have to knock especially not today. He asks where Henry is she says sleeping and I'll be happy if he sleeps a little longer I want him to be a happy B-Day boy…she smiles. He asks if there is anything he can do to help…she says yes follow me… he follows along and watches as she explains things to him. She says I've pretty much well decorated and your mom is getting the balloons …I just put the signs up… she stops and says smiling, I'm sorry this must be awkward for you maybe we should have had it somewhere else. I should have consulted with you…I'm sorry. He says no, no capturing her eyes… I'm glad it is here…this is Henry's home… it's good. He notices a Happy B-Day sign has fallen a bit he asks her for some tape. She gets some from a drawer, as he tapes it up she sees Mallet's badge in a drawer… she holds it in her hands and seems so sad. Her back is to him, he doesn't see. She puts it back in and shuts the drawer.
THE AGENCY…
Mallet reports for his finalized assignment… he will be at a one man station 29 miles outside of the Austrian Boarder. He is given a map and a vehicle with GPS instructions. He is asked if he can find it…he says absolutely sir…TY sir.
COMPANY…
Buzz is preparing items for Henry's Party. Frank says maybe they should have postponed it…Henry would never know. Buzz thinks a moment then says naw…Marina would and she is trying so hard to move on. Frank goes off to help prepare some food.
Lillian walks in Buzz says greeting her warmly I thought you'd be with the Spauldings. She says no, sadly, she'd rather spend time here with him. They kiss. He says wow some news Alan is a match for Philip. She says what…wide-eyed…I didn't know that?! Buzz says oh well then you didn't hear it from me.
OUTSIDE OF CEDARS…
Alan and Philip argue… Alan wants to save him but Philip doesn't want the risk for him. Alan says I want too…I was scared but I am not scared now!! I want to help save you son!! Philip says no dad this is not about what you want!! Alan says …as Philip continues to say no… think of what will happen to the family if they lose you. Philip says you do not need to make a grand gesture to prove how great of a father you are I know already!! Alan says I am not a blood relation…do you know how many odds were stacked against us in this? It was staggering yet I am a match somehow… that means something!! Philip says no, no I can't let you do it dad. Alan says son what would you do first if it was to save one of your children?! Philip says I think it is just my time… Alan says no… no I can save you!! Philip says Nope!!
COMPANY…
Lillian sees Daisy packing up some food she asks if it is for the party. Daisy says no it is for the workmen at Bill and Lizzie's place. Lillian says she is worried about James, she asks if he told Daisy about Philip. She says yeah…he did he's having a hard time. Lillian wants her to help him to not grow angry. Daisy says she will try her best. Lillian smiles and says I know you will.
Cyrus puts a gift bag on the counter and asks Buzz to take it to the party. Buzz says you take it, you are a Cooper now… help me with the food. Wash your hands first!!
CROSS-CREEK…
Reva and Josh are standing inside in front of the fireplace…Reva is holding Colin. Great we both bought rocking horses what do we do now?! She says it is obvious you take yours back b/c I don't have time too, I'm helping with the decorations and the balloons. Josh says but…but he is my first grandchild and I wanted to get him a rocking horse. She sighs says ok… you help me with the decorations and the balloons and we can say all the gifts are from us, I'll get something else and we can say it was all from us both together. You call Marina and see what other gifts she needs. He asks anything else… she shouts wrapping paper if I'm getting another gift we have to wrap it!! Now see why I'm so mad… she stomps off he sighs…looking at her through his sunglasses.
MARINA'S PLACE…
Shayne has Henry in his arms…he carries the baby to Marina whose face instantly lights up. He says see…see it looks like fun huh…yes now then he asks looking at Marina do you think he'll get a real mitt? She smiles, laughs and says yes…two or three probably. He's gonna be a ball player his daddy knows!!
The phone…she asks Shayne to get it.
He answers says Henry's Happy B-Day day…hello can I help you?! Mallet cringes a bit on the other end then says hey how's everyone doing… Shayne says good great… Mallet… Marina looks up he hands her the phone. He asks how's ah…Henry I was hoping to talk to him to say… she puts the phone to Henry's ear says your …friend from Germany wants to talk to you…listen. Mallet says Happy Birthday Henry…congrats!!! I wanted to make it there to celebrate but I ah… I hope you are taking good care of your mama…She takes the phone back away from Henry and says hey there he's smiling. Mallet says TY…TY for all the… ok… she tries to speak but is overwhelmed. She hangs up looks at Shayne and walks up stairs…
Mallet says hello…hello…
LIZZIE AND BILL'S HOUSE…
They are eating and talking about some weird spot by the bedroom window that she feels needs to be fixed b/c it looks like a paint testing area. They talk about Henry's Party she says she isn't sure she should go…Philip is in the doorway… I'm worried about my father. Philip says go…coming inside…I'm going to work here and feel useful for a while. She asks isn't it risky are you sure?! He says funny thing is when you come to the end of your life risk is kind of out of the picture. She says she'll do what he wants…he smiles at her and says go to he party… don't be unhappy Lizzie…life goes on. I'm gonna go to work…he looks at Bill and says make sure she goes to the party and has fun. Bill smiles back says will do. She calls out smiling sadly be careful dad.
MARINA'S PLACE…
Shayne and Henry sit on the floor together… someone knocks and he calls out come on it… Shayne smiles says look it's grandpa…grandpa…Josh smiles…Grampy… Josh says Grampy… Shayne says yes…Josh says…no, no I don't think so. Shayne smiles and says you are early for the party. Josh gets down on the floor gently tickling Henry's tummy making him smile…lighting up himself over his new grandson's pleasure in his presence and the pride in his son's eyes. He says Shayne your mom and I…your crazy mom…he smiles … and I are having gift issues. Shayne teases imagine that… Josh smiles says so I have come to ask what Henry needs. Shayne says a real serious baseball mitt. Josh says what he's too small. Shayne says as I recall I got one at his age… he smiles at Josh. Caught Josh laughs and says ok, ok we'll get him a mitt.
Josh looks around and says look at all of this BB décor huh?! Your daddy went over board… Shayne smiles and says… yes I raided your garage. Josh says well if he loves baseball you have a great daddy for it!! Hey did you think anymore about that coaching job at the High School yet? Shayne says not yet I've been too busy… he picks Henry up and says this is the first time in a long time I have felt this complete and happy. He holds a smiling baby Henry. Josh smiling says it's so natural…jut imagine though you wouldn't have even known you had a child if not for … Dinah. Shayne says yeah… he lifts Henry up and says come here you… he holds a smiling baby Henry over his head and says you are the most awesome thing I have ever done in my whole life. Josh watches his son holding his grandson and says swelling with pride…smiling… I know the feeling. Shayne cuddles Henry on his lap smiling back at his father.
THE PARK…
Lillian sees Alan… she asks are you ok I heard you are a match for Philip. Alan says yeah…I am…but…he said…no. She says of course he did …but you should be proud you are so brave to try and save your life.
LIZZIE AND BILL'S PLACE…
Philip is working Daisy stops by with sandwiches says she'll leave them in the kitchen he can help himself. He thanks her, and says he is hungry. She pauses, back to him, turns and says I'm so sorry that you are…dying. Philip smiles and says me too. She then says not to be fooled by James it does bother him and he is really upset. He is just a lot like her they do not act how they feel… if that makes any sense. He says perfect sense…I appreciate it and I am really glad that you are in his life…
(SECOND HALF)
THE DRIVE…
Reva and Josh pull up and park side by side with each other. She says ok I got the balloons did you call Marina. He smiles and says no. She says ok…I got him this. It is a little bb outfit and mitt. He says good that can be from you still smiling…she gets a little riled and says oh no, no this is from both of us so is the rocking horse Josh! She says I'm going to go inside you get the centerpiece out of my car. Josh turns back to her car and opens the back hatch…Reva suddenly shouts… no…oh…no don't Josh, he turns as the hatch rises, to face her and says what… she says don't the balloons!!! An array of blue balloons and Mylar blue foil star balloons float away as Josh Reva who has rushed back frantically grab for them. You made the balloons fly away!!
THE PARK….
Alan stands sadly looking at the water running under the little bridge…he looks up and sees balloons floating by way over head and he smiles…laughs.
MARINA'S PLACE….
Henry and Shayne greet Frank… he takes Henry says happy birthday you made to t one!!! He gets Frank with a toy…gonna be a little slugger isn't he. Shayne smiles and says be nice to Grandpa!! Frank says this is a big day for the Coopers…he gets socked again says he has a killer arm… looking around he adds crazy for bb. Here I think he wants to be with you Shayne takes Henry back, he seems satisfied with his father. Shayne says yeah Marina went a little overboard…. But it looks great… they talk. He says you are doing a great job Shayne…he says TY. Frank tells him he is a good man, says he is in a tough situation himself a new baby and very non-traditional family you are great to step up…TY. Doing this means a lot… TY …very much. Marina is back a new dress on and her hair pulled up. Frank says you look beautiful…Shayne smiles at her in agreement with Frank. She says she is ready…Shayne asks you ok? She says yes I'm here and I am ready to try…. She smiles and says hey boy…she looks at Henry… hey B-Day Boy!!! Shayne hands Henry to her says who is that…is that your mama!! Yes it is!!
IN TOWN…
Alan is walking around he comes to an intersection and meets up with Lizzie and Bill. Bill asks are you ok…do you know where you are? He says yes of course I do and I'm fine. Lizzie says maybe they should stay with him, but he says ty for your concern but go to your party. I'll be all right.
He walks off as Lizzie admits to Bill she is lucky to have him b/c things are much harder then she thought they'd be. He says they will check back on him after the party.
SOMEWHERE NEAR THE AUSTRIAN BOARDER…
Mallet approaches a woman by her car she is broken down….he speaks German then in English asks if she needs help. A voice says yeah I need help… his eyes light up as he sees Dinah's face smiling at him. Her hood up he can see the car radiator is smoking.
PHILIP'S MONUMENT…
Alan walks towards the monument… balloons that fallen from those that escaped Reva's car are stuck all around the bushes surrounding it.
Unknown to Alan Philip sits balloon in hand back against the stone twisting the string in his fingers as he absorbs the soon to be broken silence.
Alan begins to talk to the granite marker as if he were speaking directly to his son… He says he doesn't want to lose him now…not now son that things can be changed. I get it…I see it you were right I was selfish b/c I was afraid all my life of losing what I love the most you…all of you. Oh son I know I haven't been the father you deserve…I know I pushed you when you were younger to be like me successful. I know that you and I never had that father/son relationship that we both wanted and deserved… the one you deserved from me. I pushed you to succeed…to be a success just like me I threatened to take control away from you…and now here you are so strong facing your own death…with open arms embracing it as if you have already crossed over the threshold and are the man you were meant to be…
Philip listens intently…
I want to cross over mine …I have the courage now if only you will allow me to do it…son…to go with you. To take the risk…to be the father you have always wanted the one I have always wanted to be to you… to be the man I have always wanted to be. (He is sitting). If you don't, I'll lose you then …and then I lose myself….
Philip comes around the corner of the stone… Alan, head hung, looks up in surprise he stands and both men face each other.
MARINA'S HOUSE….
Frank meets Lillian outside… Reva carrying Colin, and Josh carrying their gifts are behind her. He asks are you sure you are up to it Lillian? She says yes, yes we have to. Josh and Reva hear them say nothing can help Philip now. They ask, concerned, with what? They try to say nothing but Josh and Reva say no, no you have to tell us now…please. Lillian and Frank tell them that Philip is sick, so sick that he is dying there is no treatment that can save him and he only has a few days to live… Reva says what?! Tears in her eyes she and Josh look at each other shocked and devastated by the sudden horrible news. Reva says how can we go in and celebrate Henry's B-Day now with this… they all decide the need to try and pull together. Reva cuddles Colin to her.
Happy B-Day!!!
SOMEWHERE NEAR THE AUSTRIAN BOARDER…
Mallet and Dinah are surprised to see each other… he asks what she is doing there and she says my car broke down… this is where I landed… and you? He says a new job with the Agency… a special assignment… this is where I landed. She says oh and how is Marina taking it? He says we ah…we aren't together anymore… she's happier…it was not meant to be us the happy couple. He says remember how we had that conversation about how you screw up everyone's lives… she says yeah I remember. He says well I looked back on all of your actions and I think they all led us to the right place. You helped Shayne walk, you helped find a baby that you didn't know find a good safe home with a good mom and when the time came you told Shayne he had a son. He was the father to our son… she says and you are you where you need to be now too… she smiles at him, he smiles back clearly caught up in her.
MARINA'S PLACE…
Lillian asks Cyrus where Buzz has gotten too…he says he has no idea he helped unload the car and then he took off.
A clown comes in all happy with balloons…everyone laughs and claps at 'Buzz the clown'.
Marina and Shayne hold onto Henry as he makes a wish and blows out the candles. Everyone claps awww so sweet!! The clown explains something to Daisy… he has a request everyone must take a box, open it, take out what's inside, and give it to someone else and then make a wish…
Shayne looks at Marina she's holding Henry…they open the box and she says look little chocolate baseballs. He takes one out and hands it to her and he says a lot has changed these last few weeks but my wish is…that I wish everything could stay just the way it is today. He smiles looking down into her eyes. She says I say things are good I did not know they could be this good…. She smiles up at him handing him a candy.
Everyone looks on smiling.
SOMEWHERE NEAR THE AUSTRIAN BOARDER…
Mallet says there I'm no mechanic but that ought to get you to the next town. He admits to Dinah he can't figure out the GPS and where he is headed…she asks where he tells her and she points him in the right direction. She says she has no idea where she is going or how long she will be there herself she just goes until something stops her. He asks what stopped you today? She smiles and says a busted radiator. They continue talking and she says though everyone seems to know where they belong since she left SF she has not felt settled and doesn't know where she should be. She looks into his eyes; he says well I'm sure you will figure it out. You always do. She smiles…sadly and says well, thank you for fixing my car. He smiles and says you are welcome TY for showing me the way. She says sure…se you around sometime… I hope…he says sure sometime… it was good to see you. They both turn to walk back to their cars…
MARINA'S PLACE…
Cyrus takes a piece of candy and offers it to Frank saying peace offering…Frank pauses… smiles and says I wish you peace… and hands him a piece of candy. Buzz hugs them.
Josh takes out a piece of candy and smiles at Reva… she smiles back… she says what no wish? He says no…no there is nothing I could wish for that I could get…he meets her eyes…she says we both have things that are good in our lives… he says yes and there are…things…that we don't have… she says yes we don't have them. She takes the candy and laughing a little asks just one?! He smiles, laughs back and says for now… they both laugh.
Lizzie hands Bill a piece of candy… she says I have a lot to wish for … Sarah to come home… to have a baby with you…he looks down at her smiling and says well then you better wish for some alone time… she smiles back raising an eyebrow. Then she sadly says and for my dad to be ok… Bill holds onto her.
SOMEWHERE NEAR THE AUSTRIAN BOARDER…
Mallet stops his back still to Dinah, he turns and sees her leaning against her car smiling at him…he smiles back.
MARINA'S HOUSE…
Lillian hugs Buzz and says he is the most incredible person, an incredible day with so many happy parts…still dressed as the clown he doesn't speak, he looks at her box. She smiles sadly, takes out a piece of candy and says I wish Philip would live. He pulls her to him holding her close as tears come to her eyes…
THE CEMETERY…
Philip still refuses to let Alan help save him. Alan says I know it seems I am being selfish, but this isn't about me… Philip says you don't have to prove anything to me I know how you feel. It takes courage to offer...but the family needs you to care for them. He says I am your father how could I not do everything in my power to help you? To save you… to do it for you… allow me to go with you son… to help you … help me to help you son!!
Philip looks at Alan and says ok….ok… Alan says TY son… they hug…tears TY!! They stand looking out in the same direction together Philip still holding the balloon. Alan asks son… can I have that balloon? Philip laughs and says trying to be serious…I don't think so. Alan says well that's not being very grateful to someone who has saved you life. Philip says you haven't saved me yet…they both laugh lightly, smile.
TOMORROW ON GL…
Jonathon stands holding Sarah and asks Josh…. I want to live here again with Sarah do you think it is safe for us here now?
Philip and Alan sit side by side on hospital beds…he tells Alan there is still time to change his mind.
Edmund says to his men be sure Jeffery hasn't had contact with Reva in SF… another gun fight/chase erupts.
