Alan recruits Rafe, Dinah helps Mallet, Ashlee gets her job back.

At the mansion, Mallet begins to pace. He feels like he should leave but Dinah wants to help. He asks her to take a walk. Outside, he tells her that one of the cops on the force has been letting criminals slide, destroying evidence etc.. The cop that was crossing the line was Gus. As he fixes a table, she tries to understand why Gus would do such a thing; it doesn't make sense. "He was one of the good guys," Mallet says, that's why he shred the evidence against him, otherwise Natalia wouldn't be getting his pension. Dinah has never been afraid of crossing the line, he explains, that's why he needs her help with this. He suggests that they go to work on Doris. Dinah thinks that will be easy; Doris is her best friend now that she has everything. "I'm glad that you came to me," she says, hugging him.

At Company, Natalia drinks tea and looks at a picture of Gus. "Nicky, I need you here," she says. Meanwhile, Alan is on the phone with Beth and furious that she let Lizzie run off. Later, he gives Rafe the watch he once offered Gus. Rafe thinks that he should pawn it and pay his bills, but Alan thinks that he should have a piece of family history. Rafe thanks him and Alan suggests that he can get him an internship at Spaulding after he graduates. He asks him to spy on Bill for him. Natalia bursts in at this, telling her son to go back to his homework and dragging Alan out.

On the porch, Alan defends himself, suggesting that he is just offering Rafe structure and direction. She admits that she would like her son to know his father's family, but if he wants to reach out, he should take him to a baseball game. Alan wants to teach him the family business. Natalia doesn't want her son doing his dirty work. Alan insists that Gus would support this. She walks off to do the laundry, stopping by her son who flashes the watch. He tells her that he'll never be late now.

Ashlee tracks Olivia down in the hallway at The Beacon and offers to give her a drive. Afterwards, Ashlee goes to the gym. Doris finds her there and suggests that she's pushing herself too hard. Ashlee starts ranting at her, saying that her mother should be proud of her; she just wants to be normal and she's changing in a good way. Her manic behavior worries her mother, but Ashlee fobs her off and continues exercising.

Coop shows up in Blake's room at The Beacon. She's waiting for him on the bed and shows him their tour plans. He worries that they seem a bit extravagant and tells her that he'll be inviting Ashlee along. She wonders if she's up to it. He thinks so. Later, he's in Company, nervously trying to order something to eat while Ashlee watches. She refuses to eat and starts talking about how disturbingly maternal Doris has become. He brings up the book tour and she admits she didn't take his offer to accompany him seriously. He wants her there to cuddle up next to while Blake drives. He kisses her goodbye and, as he leaves, hands Daisy some money to keep an eye on her. Daisy sits with her friend who starts to grumble about the tour and how hard it will be to find something to eat. Daisy thinks she's worrying too much and needs to find something else in her life; she shouldn't just be a girlfriend. Ashlee agrees, she wants to be like Olivia or Blake and gets up to take a power walk.

As Ashlee walks down Main Street, she runs into Dinah and asks her for a job at the station. Dinah promptly hires her and asks her for a photo of her mother. Ashlee quickly provides her with everything she asks for and Dinah suggests that she looks great and should look for a career on air. After editing together the material, Dinah hurries over to Towers and shows Doris the video she made of her. Doris is impressed by how flattering it is. Dinah tells her that there are actually two version. When she shows her the second, far less pleasant version, Doris grimaces. She guesses that Dinah must want something. Dinah offers to give Ashlee a job and air the first video as long as Doris quashes Jeffrey's investigation of corruption on the police force. Doris agrees.

Coop and Blake are going over their tour plans when Ashlee calls to tell him that she's got her old job back. This means that she won't be able to go along with him on tour. He tries to be happy for her anyway. "I'll be even skinnier by the time you get back," she blurts out. He doesn't care about that; she knows. He gets off the phone and tells Blake the news. She tells him he can drop Ashlee a postcard and they can have lots of fun together. He's looking forward to it. "Me too," she smiles. Meanwhile, Ashlee follows Olivia around The Beacon and starts to ramble to her about her new job. Olivia congratulates her before she hurries back to see Coop. He tells her how prod he is of her and showers her in kisses.

Natalia goes to see Mallet at the station to get an update on the case against Alan. He says it's a Federal case and is still going ahead. She's worried about Rafe, she admits. He begins to probe about Gus and his cases. She says he never really mentioned them, he was just proud of what he did. She tells him that she never managed to get the mortgage for the house together so she and Rafe are still living in the boarding house. When she returns to Company, she's surprised to run into Olivia. She offers to buy her tea. "I have a problem. You might be able to help me," she says. They sit down and Natalia asks for help with Alan; he's doing something she has to stop. Olivia thinks that Alan could teach Rafe a thing or two. "So you would send your son to him?" Natalia asks. Olivia doesn't answer. Natalia doesn't want Rafe to be a spy and needs Alan to back off. Olivia snipes that she left her magic wand at home so Nat is on her own.

Daisy runs into Rafe on Main Street. She is surprised to see him with a cigarette and starts asking about his watch. Rafe asserts that Alan is really a good guy but no one gets him. They start talking about the Reva movie and their plans for summer. The entire conversation is admittedly awkward and she asks him if he'll sign her yearbook.

Alan runs into Olivia and he makes a joke about her coming back from the dead. He's played that trick himself a few times. She starts to ask him about bringing Rafe to the dark side. Alan wants to develop a relationship with the boy. Olivia suggests that he take him to the movies and leave his soul alone. "Do you think I'm going to take orders from you?" he smirks. She reminds him of how much they've been through; "Wouldn't it be nice if we learned a thing or two?" When Alan goes into Company, he starts talking to Mallet about Gus' money. Alan tells him he left it in a checking account and under his bed. They start to talk about Dinah; Alan still wants his home and company back. As Mallet walks to the door, Natalia walks in. Alan offers to buy her a soda. "Why?" she asks. He says that she was right and he will leave Rafe out of his fights. She thanks him for respecting her wishes. Later, Rafe goes to see Alan and tells him that he saw Dinah with Doris at Towers. Alan thanks him for the information and tells him he's a great help. Rafe wants to help and tells him that they can keep it secret from his mother. "I have to make my own decisions," Rafe says. "I couldn't agree more," Alan smiles. Meanwhile, Natalia goes to visit Olivia and thanks her for talking to Alan.

Mallet meets Dinah at Towers. He thanks her for dealing with Doris, but he can scarcely be proud of either of them for what they've been up to. She knows a way that he can thank her: Have dinner with her once and awhile. That doesn't seem like too much of a price to pay.
