Posts: 8801 (06/29/09 08:39:27) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Our now former payroll manager had debt issues and we started getting all these automated phone calls from debt consolidation services. They are automated so they end up coming to me because the phone system is set up for people to "stay on the line" and it rings my phone eventually. I got one this morning so I called to get the phone calls stopped and this is how it went... I dial the number 866-203-9550 and someone answers, "do you want to lower your debt today." I say, "No, I..." Click! The $itch hung up on me! They are calling a business and being a pain in the @ss with these automated calls and I call to get them to stop and they hang up on me?? I called back 3 times and got the same thing, so I called back three more times and hung up on them before they could hang up on me. Childish I know.

I realize that this is a business number, but even so, even a business owner has the right to block telemarketing calls, I assume. I really feel for you! Malar

You do it once and the calls never stop. They will even start bugging you for another check a few months after your initial contribution. MADD did this to me at one time. I have them call me and say "you promised to give a donation at a later date the last time we called, do you want to do that now?" Um, no I did not you lying piece of crap! I'm sure they trick a lot of people into giving especially older folks which just burns my butt.

National donotc. registry is only for personal numbers. Too bad. Sallyann, may be you have already taken the following step - you need to file a complaint with the national dnc registry each time you get such a call - you will find the form to file here: https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2 So far as I can tell, the more people who complain, the more effective the action is that they take - it was not too long ago that some big companies were fined huge amounts for violating the DNC ordinances. Let me see - here you go: Comcast, DirecTV fined for Do Not Call violations Also, here are a few other websites that give usefu information: Do Not Call Violations Consumer Factsheets on FCC Do-Not-Call Rules. Loretta and Shelly, most charitable organizations use telemarketing companies to have calls made for them. So, even though the charity can call you on its own, if they are using a telemarketer to make the call, that telemarketer has to obey the rules of the National donotc. list. The other day I got a call from a 'cancer society', which I at first took to be the American Cancer Society which I do contribute to. I had agreed to send them a check, then when they put another guy on, I discovered it was a different society I never heard of. I told them to forget it. From now on, I will say no to all these calls. Loretta

I keep getting them from some place called Political Call. They call all different times, but hang up when they get my machine. I have caller ID so I don't bother answering calls from places like that. So far, I haven't gotten calls from the car warrantiy places, but I do get mailers from them on a fairly regular basis. But, tossing them in the recycle box is a lot less aggravating than getting unwanted phone calls. I sure hope you can find a way to stop them!

Whose calling then? If my caller ID says "Blocked call", "1-888" or "unknown caller" it's not answered but I hate when it sets off the answering machine! We get at least five or more of these a day! It's so irritating! I have entered us on the DNC list umpteen times but the calls do not stop! They call at dinnertime, on Sunday's, after 9pm at night! Who are you supposed to report calls to that don't have a source ~rose~
