"This summer is truly all about the romantic entanglements as we come off the murder," previews Head Writer Charles Pratt, Jr., "and the emotions are razor-sharp as we build toward revealing who the actual killer of Stuart is."
Stuart's Murder: "Anybody who thinks they know [who did it] is wrong. By Labor Day, most people will have a pretty good idea of who did it. If you tie it to romance and to love stories, you'll figure this one out."
Zach/Kendall: "With the murder, Zach and Kendall are thrown back together. An ambitious DA, Henry North, who we will find has connections to a lot of people in town, desires to put Erica Kane's daughter behind bars. Zach devoted his life to getting her off. As the summer goes, Kendall gets deeper into trouble. Zach goes to further and further lengths." Oh, and by the way: They remarry so that Zach won't have to testify against her. "The lingering question is, does he want her as a wife?"
Ryan/Erica: "Ryan throws a little water on his feelings for Kendall and realizes that he hasn't absorbed the grief for Greenlee. He begins to reposition his life, but his entire family is dragged into this murder. The woman at his side the whole time is Erica. I will hint at it and call it a romance, but it is not a cougar story, even though everyone in town is eager to call it that. Whether they have sex or not, I will let people guess."
Adam/Annie/Aidan: "Adam has incredible gratitude to Annie for saving him on the night of the murder and brings her into his house to get the psychiatric help she needs. Romance begins to erupt as she begins to fantasize herself as the trophy wife of the man on the hill. He believes that she needs a second chance. It's a sweet love story, regardless of their ages." And when the truth about Annie and Emma's activities on the night of the murder emerge, "Suddenly, Emma is a witness. What did Emma really see and what is Annie hiding? It begins to look more and more like Annie might have [killed Stuart]." As for Aidan, "Aidan will be taking stock of his life this summer -- and taking his shirt off a few times [laughs]. He will begin a new adventure."
Liza/Jake/Amanda/ David: "Liza has a new baby in the house. The secrets between Jake and Amanda explode this summer, as does their romance. They will find unlikely help [With their baby scheme], but nothing goes as planned. Jake is madly in love with his new bride" -- yes, you read that right -- "and madly in love with that baby. At the same time, you've got David, who is probably the hardest person in the world to fool, who is being fooled, but never for long."
Tad/Taylor/Brot: "the bullet to his head has changed Tad. Brot and Taylor are wondering if their relationship will survive. Taylor will need a good laugh and who is there with that laugh but the perfect guy, Tad. The Martins are big, big, big all summer long as we really cement the relationship between the two brothers. Brot, we're going to organically bring him closer into the show. We've targeted a couple of love interests."
Krystal: "The summer for Krystal is about reconnecting with Jenny and her kids and wearing the scar called David. We play the dysfunctional family of David, Krystal and Marissa, with JR on the outskirts."
The Hubbards: Jesse is going to uncover things about the DA that are more significant in the Hubbards' life than even the murder of Stuart. We find out that the DA, North, is a part of Randi's past. When Angie finds out the secret, she'll feel that Jesse did the right thing by not telling her. Frankie will come back from Iraq early in the summer and will be immersed in the drama that finds Randi based in her sordid past."
JR/Marissa/Scott: "We'll start to see an edge to Scott as he starts to clash with JR over Marissa."
Stuart: "This summer, we'll be seeing Stuart more than we did in the last [few years]! We'll be using Stuart as a subconscious manifestation of guilty consciences in several people's lives."
