Finally, it looks like someone, at CBS no less, will be giving the show a little more of the honor it deserves. Amidst all of the recent Twittering from the GL actors at the recent taping of the Bauer barbecue, one of the things that stood out was that CBS' veteran reporter Morley Safer was there, chatting it up with the actors. He wasn't just there to be friendly either. Apparently, "60 Minutes" is planning to air a special report about the show's history and cancellation. Elizabeth

Anyone got any connections at CBS news that we could yank? I used to date Katie Couric's cousin, but never met her. His mom is a big fan of GL thats why I started the website keepourlighton.com. He is the webmaster! Gee gotta think on this one.....

Too bad we can't do a Jerry Lewis telethon or something like that if money is CBS' problem. If every fan mailed them a dollar for a GL fund think that would work?

They provide the financial backing... you know GL has what two million viewers. I've read articles on grocery stores going under in small towns being funded by the employees. I might not be explaining it quite right, but I hope I'm making some sense. I know the economy is bad, but with so many it might not take that much per individual. After all, GL is the property of Telenext, and nothing with this franchise can be done without the Owners' consent. A biblical psalm, which I have puzzled over and worried about in all my years as a result of my Catholic education comes to mind: "Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it; except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain" (Psalm 127:1) I have worried over the meaning of this passage for a long, long time as a teenager and into my twenties. Being brought up a Hindu did not offer any cover from this metaphysical worry and longing to understand Why, I do not know. I have always thought that if I understood this, I will understand everything. This somehow comes to mind right now, as I read this thread. Malar

I dont remember much about the bible now since I left the church when I was 15. Thats not a bad idea I mayjust try and call them tomorrow and Telenext and see what I can find out.

I was born a Hindu, grew up a Hindu (in a mostly Islamic town attending Catholic schools and colleges), moved to a foreign continent and remain to this day, a Hindu. One of the central tenets of our Hindu faith is that all people have a piece of the ultimate truth, and therefore, we must learn all we can about everyone's faith, and respect all we can of others' truth. Not for us the luxury of ignoring other people's truth. Mine is an earth faith Wakan Takan and White Buffalo Woman, etc... Based on living in harmony with nature and respect for all beings not just 2 legged ones. I also emailed an attorney friend to see if she knew anything about doing something like this with the show. Let ya'll know what I find out.

It should be doable if all wills bend, I suppose. I agree about the lack of time. When we were children, our parents guided us into finding out about the faiths of everyone around us and sent me to a parochial school of people of a different faith. They (my parents) were (and my mother still is) remarkable. Whenever I have the inclination, I try to read books on all religions - sometimes, I pick up other peoples' metaphysics in unexpected places. Now late Tony Hillerman shall always remain my beloved teacher, whether he intended to be or not, because I learned all I know of the Navajo religious thoughts from his mysteries. You are getting me interested in yours now by this exchange - any authors you recommend? Malar

Its called the Leonard Peltier Story and it is a very large volumn on the incident at Wounded Knee in 1973. Peter is a well versed author on Indians (we don't like Native American since anyone born on American soil is technically a Native American). Sounds like Tania also may be interested in a convo! In Canada (of which nation too I am a citizen), we call the "Indian Tribes" by the name The First Nations. People like me resent the term for our people being stolen by the Westerners who ascribed it to completely different people from a different continent - and when people like me say "I am Indian by birth," we are asked the idiotic question "Do you mean East Indian?" East of what? The answers that come to my mind are: "There is only one India and one Indian people. Everyone else has his/her own name - call them by their rightful names, not by ours and ask us to explain our name by changing it!" Of course, being brought up to be overly polite (which is the stereotype for my native culture anyhow), I simply say "I was born on the Indian subcontinent, in the country of India." Sigh. Malar

There are also some taxes in other cities in the state like Milwaukee because the Packers used to play at the old county stadium in Milwaukee. So, I'm not sure if the "fan base" idea would work, but it would certainly be worth a try. However, there are several "employee owned" grocery stores. Basically, they buy "stock" in the company so that it is "employee owned".

I'm not sure what the difference is between that share and others I get, but I don't vote on Green Bay stuff, like I do on my Harley stock, (Wisconsin girl am I? ) lol. The Packer stock was put up to build the addition to Lambeau Field, it is privately owned and not traded. Ensentially worthless, but priceless..............because I am a "FAN". OTOH I've got other stock that trades on the marker regularly which is not private.
