Thought it was a spoiler for GL, atleast now I can quit trying to figure out why Olivia would be back at the Spaulding mansion!

I figured thats what the first part of the spoiler was -- though, I hate when people talk like that about the (former)leader of our country--and I am not from
Texas.Personally, I dont think we should publicly trash any of our former Presdients publicly ( what does that show other countries about us?)
I just hope the media chills on the 'celebritiness' of our new President, I think it is awsome history (whether he was my candidate or not) and it has
been celebrated, but now we need to let him get down to business like any other President, I hope he can do the great things he has promised. Plus, I would
like to see my soaps!!!
I will trash however the Springfield .....dead weight (Greasy, Rafe, Daisy, et. al.) !!

Most of you are too young to remember John Kennedy, but he was treated like a celebrity too, so this is not really new. I think the fact that the Obama family
has two small children endears them to most people. As for GL, I read in my latest magazine that GL has until April to turn things around or they will be
cancelled. I hope this is just a nasty rumor.

I wouldn't be surprised with the way things are going on other soaps. I read another article that said some of the actors on AMC (Susan Lucci and Michael
Knight) had taken a 40% pay cut and Days fired Deidre Hall and Drake H to keep the show on the air for a few more months.
Bringing Phillip and Edmund back may be a last desperate attempt to bring back viewers. Y&R is said to be only making a "marginal" profit. They cannot continue to have GL on the air if it is losing money; it just doesn't make good business sense.

I find this all so sad. I mean, it seems its not just "our" soap, but all soaps. I've heard deadlines before about cancellation of GL but this
time is the closest I come to believing it and it's depressing.
Lighthouse...it's funny you mention JFK...his was the only inauguration I have watched--and I wasn't even born then! lol I've just seen it played over many times. I know it's horrible but watching them get sworn in doesn't interest me....any of them, therefor I just don't, even the ones I vote for. Every President that is elected makes history with their inauguration (sp?) but I just don't care to watch. I came here escaping and had a "duh" moment! I was actually thinking that since (in my mind) the "White House" was the Spaulding mansion and "O" was heading toward it that maybe since Phillip was coming back he and Olivia might get back together and move in! *rolls eyes* Told you it was DUH moment! lol

I am so mad because they KNOW how to make it good! They made Monday's show SO GOOD! I was chompin' at the bit to see the show yesterday and I was freaking out when I realized that it was not on because of the inauguration.  Why can't they make the show this good every day? They KNOW HOW TO DO IT!!!

I watched Monday's show. I was at home for MLK day and watched/listened to it while I was cleaning out my file cabinet. It was a good show. I love Billy
and loved his comments to Bill. The show is not suspenseful at all though. GH was showing previews of a deadly virus outbreak or something. GL used to be a
good blend of suspense and romance. For the last few years it hasn't really had much of either.

I know! The majority of the women who watch this show would probably love to see a bit of romance on the show. I remember I really got HOOKED when they had
Joie Lentz on the show and the whole Manny phenom happened. I could not miss a show then. I remember I missed one back then and I got on the internet and found
someone in Austin who had it taped and I went to their house and watched it. A complete stranger! Crazy! That was when I got on the boards. Before that I was
watching the show, but not active on the boards...the rest is history!

When I posted the topic I thought it was a spoiler and I still think it is because it talks about Oliva moving into the white house, so I can gather from
that that there maybe a revist of the Oliva and Phillip SL, but is the Spaulding House white? And if it is refering "moving out who is there now?"

The Spaulding house used to be white. Since they moved to Peapack, I think it is gray. I believe what you posted said "O", not "Olivia" but I could be wrong. I think it probably was a shot at Bush, but the way it was written it was confusing.

innocent here, I really thought it was about Phillip and Oliva, and or the Mayor Dorris, the court house there in Peacock looks an aweful lot like the round
house here in New Mexico whish is not white but I assocated it with the topic, so for me ther were all kinds of SL's for this post. DUH I feel kinda

Hey, I read it as possibly being said both ways. Who knows? Who ever wrote it could have been relaying a real spoiler, but put it in terms of a jab at Bush. So
we all could be right.

Have I not seen truly trashy jokes about President Clinton (which trashed him, in addition to being trashy) posted on the Off Topics Board, even quite recently? There was one that was supposed to be about Monica Lewinsky's birthday not too long ago, during the pre-Election ruckus period. Others replied expressing their enjoyment of the "humour" and a good laugh was being had by those who thought it was OK to trash President William Jefferson Clinton. I stayed silent because I thought the joke was (a) tasteless and (b) pointless. However, I did not know that the joke was unacceptable on this board. My personal opinion is that critiquing an ex-President's job performance is fine in a Democracy, and this may actually hold a whole lot of value, but tasteless jokes are simply tasteless whether they are about former Presidents or whomever else. In my experience during foreign travel, most foreigners respect the strength of the American Democracy that allows its citizens to critique their Presidents, past and present, openly. In any case, I totally trust Elizabeth's judgment in editing the original. Political statements have no place masked as Guiding Light Spoilers .... Malar, writing from a Foreign Soil, where there is intense interest in American Politics.

Personally, I dont think we should publicly trash any of our former Presdients publiclyI did not mean we can't disagree, or critique job performance, thats what makes our country great, we are a democracy and can choose and can speak out; my point was I dont like personal jabs and name calling -- about any of our leaders -- or anyone really; famous, not famous, whoever--I am just not a fan of that. That is one of the reasons why though I love American Idol, I always feel bad for some of the contestants who think they can sing but cant, or dress funny or whatever and Simon or Randy say something mean to them or after they leave or laugh while they are singing -- I know they are critiqing the performance ( and it is also for ratings ) but they should leave the personal attacks out. Now if we are talking about some of the characters on GL -- Daisy, Grady, etc. then I say go for it!!LOL ( took me 10 tries to say what I wanted--my fingers hurt  )

Hey no idea what happened to this thread but i totally read it as the white house being the actual White house while considering it could be some play on words
but not sure which house is white. And the village idiot thing seemed obvious to me but reserved my comments as this is not a political board, regardless i
know elizabeth it from texas so i said nothin. But Geez i am glad he is gone! And i also thought it was okay to critique because we live in a free country. i
am also so proud and i hope that we have overcome all the hatred of the past. I hope that one day i don't feel like i have to remain silent when hearing
racist jokes. Anyway i feel as if i have been supressed enough by the radical right wing side of politics. And i hope to finally voice my opinion.

The original post, I got from the Buzz board and it was located in GL spoilers, stupid me when a topic is in GL I would think it would be about GL, honestly
this was not a political issue for me I thought it was spoilers about GL, hence my questions about the topic because I was not sure who they were refering to.
It did not occur to me untill TXMrt pointed out that I may not follow polotics much, I thought she was getting it wrong, she was not it was clearly Bush
bashing even up untill Shelly posted her post did I not get a clue,,,,,,anyhow JMO I do not think politican is a good thing even on our OT board, I do believe
we lost a member over such topics. So let me just say it was not meant to offend anyone, I swear I thought it was all about GL thats all
