Posts: 1957 (08/06/08 07:28:06) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	I'll be working for the Bank of New York Mellon as a Mainframe Console Operator/Tape Operator. However it's a night shift job 11 at night till 7 in the morning, I ain't too jazzed about that. Also it's not a direct hire position, it's through a job placement agency. I start on Monday, please send good vibes my way that this works out long term and it goes from temp to direct hire. Thanks y'all for all the thoughts and prayers for me when I lost my job back in June.I really, really genuinely appreciate all your support and prayers. Last Edited By: phillip 08/06/08 07:44:30. I know when I worked, our company regularly hired temps on permanently. Hope you can adjust ok to the night shift. I had several relatives that worked changing shifts. Don't know how they did it. They have me training Mon. -Fri. next week during the day and then going to the night shift the week after.

I worked overnight for thirteen years. Sleeping during the day isn't the easiest thing to do. But, hopefully the work will make it worth the hours. Good luck to you!

At least if you work during the night you can interview during the day for a different job if you want to! I was hired from a temp employee to a permanent employee for my current job, so it can happen! I will definitely keep my fingers crossed that you LOVE this job! That is the most important! Maybe after you work there a while you can tell them that if someone from the day shift quits you would like to be considered for their position! Elizabeth

I believe I'm going to like it there. One of my coworkers talked like they probably would bring me on as a direct hire employee after several months. They want to make sure that you have a good track record (on time, don't call in sick). Thanks for the good vibes and everything.
