Yep I did. It was fairly significant. The first small tremor woke me up at about 4:30. I thought someone was walking around in my bedroom. Then it started
shaking again only harder.

We don't normally get them either; however, we are in the area where the "big one" will likely hit someday. There was one back in
the 1800's that formed a lake and made the Mississippi River run backwards. They say that we are due one. I think we are up to a likelihood of 80% for a
major quake within the next 100 years. Something like that anyway. I have felt small tremors before, but this one was stronger than anything I have ever
felt. They said this was the strongest one since 1968. I actually have earthquake insurance on my house. Back some years ago somebody predicted one on a
certain day, but of course it didn't happen. It did raise awareness that it could happen though.

Elizabeth,Speak for Austin.....About 11 years ago we got two out here in about two weeks apart.
The first on woke me up,I went and stuck my head in the window and it went whoooosh.I jumped back then when I realized what it was. I had felt several while visiting in Ca. The next one was in the afternoon. It didn't shake as hard. I had just left Oakland the day before the big one in ...was it '87? I had an eerie feeling while watching tv the next afernoon and they broke in the in with news of it. It had wrecked the roads and bridges that I had JUST been on the day before. |

I believe that was in '89. I was in college and was watching the world series. It was actually spitting snow where I was in TN so that was a weird day
indeed.

I didn't actually "feel" it, lol, but now that I know what it was, it did wake me up. Well, "my dogs and that semi/heavy equipment going
down the road" sort of woke me up. We don't usually have heavy equipment going down our road, lol, but in my sleep induced mind that's what was
going on. My dogs woke up and "grrrrrr'd" and "woofed". I woke up, told them to shut up, thought to myself, "idiots moving heavy
vehicles around at this time of the day should be shot" and went back to sleep, lol. They still haven't reported any injuries, have they? Hopefully
not and everyone is well.

I don't think it was felt in New York State. If it was, I slept through it.

I woke up and the very first thing I thought of was the new Madrid fault. I just knew that it was an earthquake.
It was around 4:30 and I never did fall back asleep because I was thinking about aftershocks, then the alarm clock went off at 6:00. Needless to say I was zonked out at work today.

We didn't actually "feel" it, but we woke up about that time and didn't know why. Also, the dog came and got into bed with us (from my
son's bed-which was weird, she likes sleeping with him) and also my boss and her husband, and a few of my friends said they'd be awake since around
that same time and no one knew why. Then dh called this afternoon and had heard it on the radio and said it was that time. Weird! Glad everyone is ok though.

I remember the one in 1968........I was still awake and home alone. I think I leapt from my bed way across the room to the phone.....I was terrified. That
one was a 5.3.......the one this morning was a 5.2. But I didn't feel the one this morning, thank goodness.
