Realistic storyline, IMO and could be a good one. Maybe we'll get these two off the back burner? Leads me to this question ... have those two 'done the deed'? I don't think so, did I miss something? Remember the scene in her room where she reached across him to grab the remote and then he went into the bathroom and has his little talk? LOL That was one of the funniest scenes ever ... but since then, the subject was just dropped???

I love Ashlee just the way she is and it makes a great sl about a man loving a woman for herself,not her size. Unless she really does have health issues because of her weight,I think the story stinks.

I love her no matter how she looks but for her health it might be best for her to lose weight. As for bypass surgery, I not sure about in someone as young as she is!

Why do people think that it is? I don't understand why people are upset over this story line. If a "fat" person wants to lose weight, let them lose weight. Let them use whatever tools are available to them. Let them do it without judgement. I don't get it. Ashley is obviously overweight, I would even go so far as to say she is obese. I am excited to see this story line. ******************************************************** Just because I don't care, doesn't mean I don't understand.

I have personal experience with this possible sl as my best friend had the surgery about 5 years ago (probably close to Ashley's age and size on the show) and it has changed her life completely - for the better. For the much better. Also, my mom and two older sisters are obese (I'm no skinny minny myself at a 14/16). I know first hand the heartache that being that heavy can bring --- not to mention the severe health issues (my mom is in a nursing home - she's only 67). I do think this is a realistic sl. I'm not saying every person of a certain size should have surgery to lose weight ... but it is happening all the time now - with a lot of success stories, whether or not you or I would do it doesn't change the fact that it is realistic for a girl of Ashley's age and size. JMHO As for Ashley looking beautiful now - I AGREE! I LOVE her, think she is gorgeous inside and out!!! Oh, you are right wickiet - I guess I just made the assumption it was the by-pass surgery ... my bad.

Health is always an important factor, I know the surgery helps take weight off which is good so the heart doesn't have to work so hard pumping out all the blood to a larger frame. I know people who have been just over 100 pounds overweight who get it and some that are way more than that and they are all happy with it. Some people who are not very overweight can lose the weight if they exercise, but for some who are too overweight, sometimes exercise can be dangerous. I am for the surgery/ not ness. for Ashlee. That's just my opnion.... -Rach

America Ferrera mentioned that her fans got upset with her when she lost a few lbs. What is wrong with someone wanting to gain or lose weight? If someone was too skinny and wanted to gain weight, I highly doubt that there would be such an outcry. And it is just as unhealthy to be too skinny as to be too big. It's as if people think that if someone wants to lose weight that they are sending a message to people that it is not "OK" to be overweight. I think that people should be allowed to do whatever they want with their own self, but not be prejudiced against someone for being too skinny or too large. I know that the actress wanted to lose some weight (I read it in an article) and they decided to write it into the show. I did not get the impression, by the way, that Ashlee was considering surgery. I think that it was presented to her as one of her options. I think that she was doing the right thing and getting a doctor's consent before starting an exercise routine. The next thing you see was her on the treadmill...good for her! (I am a day behind however.) Elizabeth

As of last year, he was very happy with the results. I thought he looked way too skinny and he wanted to lose more yet. This surgery does not always have the best outcome. Some have major problems from it. There are several actors that have had it and gained the weight back. I kind of hope Ashlee doesn't have the surgery, but is able to lose by herself. Loretta

I think she's just starting with her doctor....which is where we are always told we should start before starting any weight-loss program. I love Ashley the way she is but if she, personally, in real life, wants to lose some weight - then that's fine with me. It might be a great incentive for me to lose a couple 50 pounds myself - my son is getting married in August and I sure could shed a few (or alot!).

I have had Weight Loss Surgery and am very happy with it. I dont think you should be skinny to be skinny but to be at a better weight is healther.

I have had a weight problem since my first child was born 54 years ago,I have done every diet out of all the magazines.Some worked for awhile,but I was always hungry. I tried weight watchers but got tired of thinking about WHAT I was going to eat next and having to weigh and measure everything.Besides,the reast of the family didn't have a problem with their weight and I couldn't afford two menus. I lost weight by changing the way I eat and walking. I agree that if Ashlee wants and needs to lose weight,she should,but if it is to beef up the sl,that is why I would be against it.That is what I meant to say and probably didn't say it very well.

It's a very personal decision and often takes a lot of thought. Especially when it comes to surgery. I had the bypass three years ago and I have never regretted my decision. I thought about it for probably two years, and did a lot of research before I decided to go ahead with it. I lost 120 pounds and I feel so much better than I did. I still have about forty pounds to go and it's coming off more slowly than it did in the beginning. But, it was the right thing for me to do. If Caitlyn Van Zandt is doing this, I wish her all the best. She's a beautiful girl whether she loses weight or not. And, she's a bright and talented actress.

Kind of like when Abby had the cochlear implants, it was because the actress was having it done. I don't know if they're really going for a gastric bypass storyline or if they are just having Ashlee look into her options. We will see.

No one should just rush into something as serious as surgery. And, while some doctors will do the surgery on younger patients, most won't perform it on patients younger than 18 unless there is a dire need for it. And, unless there are underlying issues, CVZ doesn't look to be all that heavy that a bypass would be urgently needed.

Someone those women looked like walking skeletons. I found out, about six months after I had the surgery, that people at work were wondering if I was ill because I had lost so much weight, so fast. The funny thing is that I never hid the fact that I'd had the bypass. But, some people just didn't "get the memo" I guess.
