Olivia feels humiliated when Gus refuses to marry her, leading to Jeffrey's offer to wed her. Olivia collapses right after the ceremony and is rushed to the hospital.
When Gus finds out about Olivia's condition, he races to the hospital on Remy's bike, but is involved in a horrible accident and ends up in the ER. Gus passes away from his injuries, and Olivia's life is saved when she receives his heart.
I gotta tell ya, I think this just sucks. What is it with this show? Okay, Okay, I get it, Ricky quit, but WHY do they have to keep killing off people? Tammy's death was senseless, they could have just left town. Olivia needs a heart, fine, let Spaulding buy her one, she shouldn't get Gus', it's just stupid and predictible. Not to mention WHY is she so freaking desperate that she'd marry Jeffrey, of all people, this is Olivia we are talking about here, not some man dependent bimbo for gods sake! Who is that woman (Olivia), who is that man (Gus), who is the blonde with three kids sleeping with her neice's lover? Who are these people?

giving us no chance to ever see him/her again! Well, unless you have a twin that no one knows about (ala Lujack) or aren't really dead (ala Roger Thorpe),
but c'mon another flippin' heart transplant? I agree with everyone that has commented on better ways of handling this...FBI needs him for a secret
mission...Eden needs him...ANYTHING OTHER THAN DEATH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! Sorry...I lost it for a split second
