SOW (6/3/08 Issue)
'Rafe Shoots Jeffrey' preview article - (pic of poor Jeffrey all bloody) Bradley says the whole police department is giving Jeffrey the run around on Gus's case. Jeffrey finds out Gus was doing favors to move Olivia up on the transplant list so he is going to spin the story to the press so Gus doesn't look bad. Rafe finds out Jeffrey is going to make a statement and assumes Jeffrey will slander Gus so he takes Gus's old gun and goes looking for Jeffrey. Rafe walks in with the gun while Jeffrey is prepping for his speech in the judge's chambers. Jeffrey tries to keep Rafe calm, he explains what he is really going to do and persuades him to put the gun down. As Rafe is preparing to do that, Mallet comes bursting through the door and the gun goes off - Jeffrey goes down. Rafe flees and Jeffrey tells Mallet to let him go, it was an accident. Mallet calls the paramedics and tries to stop Jeffrey's bleeding. "Jeffrey tells Mallet he's fine," says Cole. "But when he struggles to get up he passes out from shock." Jeffrey goes in for surgery as word of the shooting spreads through town. Harley creates a plan that takes Harley and Rafe out of town so Rafe can avoid prison. "There's a great story surrounding Harley's exit from Springfield when Rafe shoots Jeffrey," asserts a GL rep. "Fans will see Harley one last time on June 23."
There's an article about the backstage turmoil at GL with RPG and BE leaving. (Pic of Kim and Susan Flannery in Peapack accompanies the article.) There are rumors Kim may opt out of her next contract cycle in June but a show source says that is not true. The show is over budget, etc A GL rep says Susan Flannery wanted to come observe it all because she wants to be a part of the huge leap GL is taking with EW's producing. Grant Aleksander was spotted at OLTL to talk about an acting job. A worried actor says the show is lacking and they are trying something different with the digital cameras but need to step up to the plate and make it great. Rob Bogue says the actors are having difficulties because everyone resists change.
There's a statement from Beth Ehlers. A GL spokesperson insists a decision whether to recast Harley is still up in the air.

Rafe hides up until Harley shows up and offers to help him get out of the country but he can't say goodbye to anyone. He accepts. Harley tells Buzz but swears him to secrecy. Natalia frantically searches for her son.
