So, I get calls at home with either no one on the line, pre-recorded local politicians, charity phone calls, thank you for donating calls, etc. What peeves me is no one on the line! Whose calling then? If my caller ID says "Blocked call", "1-888" or "unknown caller" it's not answered but I hate when it sets off the answering machine! We get at least five or more of these a day! It's so irritating! I have entered us on the DNC list umpteen times but the...

I cannot stand those automated calls! I keep getting them from some place called Political Call. They call all different times, but hang up when they get my machine. I have caller ID so I don't bother answering calls from places like that.
So far, I haven't gotten calls from the car warrantiy places, but I do get mailers from them on a fairly regular basis. But, tossing them in the recycle box is a lot less aggravating than getting unwanted...

Yeah, I love those calls from the credit card company saying it is 'urgent', then it goes on to say there is nothing wrong with our account but let them know if we want a lower interest rate. The other day I got a call from a 'cancer society', which I at first took to be the American Cancer Society which I do contribute to. I had agreed to send them a check, then when they put another guy on, I discovered it was a different society I never heard of. I told them to forget...

Shelly, you are right of course. National donotc. registry is only for personal numbers. Too bad.

Sallyann, may be you have already taken the following step - you need to file a complaint with the national dnc registry each time you get such a call - you will find the form to file here:

They will also lie through their teeth Loretta. I have them call me and say "you promised to give a donation at a later date the last time we called, do you want to do that now?" Um, no I did not you lying piece of crap! I'm sure they trick a lot of people into giving especially older folks which just burns my butt.

I hope I have learned my lesson to not contribute to causes over the phone. You do it once and the calls never stop. They will even start bugging you for another check a few months after your initial contribution. MADD did this to me at one time. I thought I would never get rid of them.

the dnc list appears not to apply to me as i get these calls all the time..these and car warranty and balance interest will go up on cards. now, all of this is very interesting as i carry no debt..we have paid off house and do cash for all..i have put myself on the dnc several times. i even press #2 if you do not want to receive these calls and nothing but my blood pressure rising!

As far as I know the DNC registry is only for personal phone numbers.

Shelly, I wonder if there is anything that can be done via the 'National Do Not Call' Registry to block unsolicited soliciting calls. I realize that this is a business number, but even so, even a business owner has the right to block telemarketing calls, I assume.

Our now former payroll manager had debt issues and we started getting all these automated phone calls from debt consolidation services. They are automated so they end up coming to me because the phone system is set up for people to "stay on the line" and it rings my phone eventually. I got one this morning so I called to get the phone calls stopped and this is how it went...

I dial the number 866-203-9550 and someone answers, "do you want to lower your debt...
